What's the VideoEgg Publisher?
- The VideoEgg publisher is a small Web site plug-in that makes it simple for end-users to capture, edit, encode, and post digital video online. A "universal adapter" that captures directly from hundreds of devices and reads dozens of formats, the VideoEgg Publisher allows users to painlessly publish videos that anyone can watch without worrying about player compatibilities, encoding settings, or extra software.
How do I post my video to a Web site?

- We are working on better non-English language support, but it's still under development.
How long of a video can I post with VideoEgg?
- While there's no technical limit to the length of video the Publisher can post, long videos are expensive to store and stream. You can store any length of video so long as you stay within your account disk space requirements.
What Operating Systems and Browsers does the VideoEgg Publisher support?
- Currently, the VideoEgg Publisher is only available for computers running Windows 2000 or Windows XP and Mac OS X 10.4, though we're working hard to add to that list.
- Mac OS X Supported Browsers:
- Windows Supported Browsers:
- Opera 7.0+
- Mozilla 1.0+
- Netscape 6.1+
- Internet Explorer 5.0+
- Firefox 1.0+
What video formats does VideoEgg support?
- The VideoEgg Publisher draws dynamically on a variety of resources, including the specific codecs installed on your computer, to decode the video you want to publish. As a result, there is some variation from computer to computer with respect to the videos the Publisher can read. Generally speaking, however, the VideoEgg Publisher should be able to read the video inside most consumer formats, including:
- .3gp
- .3gp2
- .avi
- .dv
- .mpg
- .mpg4
- .mov
- .mqv
- .wmv
- .asf
- Note: At this time, the VideoEgg Publisher does not support MPEG-2 movies. These movies are most commonly found on DVDs.
What do my weblog readers need to view my video?
- Chances are, your readers already have everything they need to view the video you're creating. The VideoEgg Publisher automatically converts your video to Flash Video format, which means that all your readers need is the Flash player plug-in. Flash is bundled with most modern browsers, and according to Macromedia is currently available on more than 98% of internet browsing computers.
Will the video I post to my blog, auction or profile count against my disk space and bandwidth limit?
- The video will be hosted and served on your account, so the video will count against your storage and bandwidth allowance.
Can I backup a copy of the video that's created by VideoEgg?
- In future releases of VideoEgg you'll be able to download your videos and save them locally on your computer.
Any known issues or bugs I should know about?
- The VideoEgg Publisher is currently in its public beta testing phase, which means there are bound to be bugs - it's software, after all. Additionally, there is a known issue with some of the WYSIWG editors that most blogging sites use. When editing a post with video that's been created with VideoEgg through a WYSIWYG editor, the editor may cause you to lose your video content from the post. If you have to edit a post you make through the VideoEgg Publisher, we recommend setting your "Compose Post" settings to use the "plain text" option that's available on most blogging sites.
