Mambo Server Installation Guide (February 2006)This tutorial will give you a comprehensive guide on how to setup Mambo Server on you Globat Account. First Things First .....
Downloading and File Handling1. Download Mambo Server to your computer, The Current Link is as follows Click Here (http://www.mamboserver.com/MamboV4.5.3.zip) Current Version 25th February 06) 2. Unzip the file to a Easy to Access location (e.g. Desktop) 3. Use a FTP Program to Upload the Unzipped Files to your webspace - You Can Do this via a FTP Client of your choice, some e.g's are (www.smartftp.com - Free) (www.flashfxp.com - Easy to Use, Not Free) - Inside your httpdocs folder create a folder with a plausable name such as e.g. mambo and upload all files to that folder - Depending on the speed of your Internet Connection you will need to wait for the Upload to Finish
Setting Up Database1. Goto https://login.globat.com/ (Globat Customer Control Panel) Login with your Username/Password 2. Once Logged In, Click on the Databases button
3. Click Add Database
4. Choose a Name for the Database and Click Add
5. The Control Panel should now request a user to be made for the Database, Therefore Add User
6. Enter a Username of your choice for the MySQL Database followed by a password of you choice, then click Create
7. Make a Note of the Database Name, UserName and Password You have Set, you will need them later
Mambo Install Script : Final Steps1. Now point your Internet Browser at the Mambo Directory, http://www.your_domain/directory_set 2. The result should be a Install Page, Click Next
3. Next.. the legal bit, make sure you read the license agreement, and if you feel happy tick the box to agree and click Next
4. Here is the vital part. Giving Mambo the correct MySQL details is vital otherwise the install will fail
5. Give your Mambo Site a Title
6. Not much to change here
12. You should now receive a Confirmation Screen Prompting you Admin Username and Password, it will also request you remove the Installation directory for security, this is easily done by Using FTP Client. - Go into the folder you made for Mambo - Locate installation and Delete It
If this is the case, then Congratulations , you have successfully Installed Mambo!
