Q: What is GloMobile™?

GloMobile is a Web-based tool that will generate a mobile device friendly version of your Web site. This version will be easier to view and navigate by people using mobile devices such as cell phones, PDAs, iPhones, Blackberries, and more.

Q: Will GloMobile change anything on my existing Web site?

No, GloMobile only recodes your existing pages and strips any css and javascript code. It will not change anything on your existing site.

Q: How do people on mobile devices know to access the mobile version of my site?

When using GloMobile, you'll be given a snippet of code to copy and paste into the .htaccess file in your domain root directory. With this code in place, mobile visitors to your regular Web site will be automatically redirected to the mobile version.

Q: Do I need to tell people to go to a different address to access the mobile version of my site?

If you have the code mentioned above inserted into your .htaccess file in the root folder of your domain, you will not need to tell people two different addresses. The code will determine where to send visitors based on their access method.

Q: What will the mobile version of my site look like?

Because of the smaller, limited abilities of most mobile browsers, the mobile version of your site will not display extraneous design elements in order to make it easier to read and navigate. Please keep in mind that if your site is image-heavy or if it uses large images, it may take a long time to load on a mobile connection.

Q: Can I look at the mobile version of my site on my computer?

Yes. After using GloMobile, simply go to http://mobile.domain.com to see what the mobile version of your site looks like.

Q: If I update my site, do I have to run GloMobile again?

No, your sub-domain mobile.domain.com will automatically be coded to accept any new version or change you might make to your site.

Q: How long does the mobilization process take?

Once activated it can take up to 5 min for the dns provisioning to take place on your domain.

Q: What sites can I mobilize with GloMobile?

GloMobile will mobilize any domain under the Globat.com Web hosting account where it is enabled. For example, if GloMobile is enabled on your account, your main domain can be mobilized, and if you have any additional domains under that account, you may mobilize them also. You cannot mobilize domain names that are not under your account.
