E-mail & Web mail
What POP3 and SMTP servers do I use?
- The POP/SMTP server you should be using is mail.yourdomain.com. Please replace yourdomain.com with your domain.
- Note: Some ISP do not allow users to specify their own SMTP servers. If this is the case, please contact your ISP for their out going mail server names.
How much storage space comes with my e-mail account?
- There is a fixed limit on the amount of e-mail storage you can use on the server at any one time. The default amount is 100 MB of storage. This means that if you are using POP3 and not removing your e-mails from the server you will eventually hit the limit. Also, if you are using Web mail, you will need to periodically clean out old messages. The 100 MB limit is for each mailbox account not the size of the individual folder or e-mail messages.
How can I setup my catch-all e-mail address?
- To specify a catch-all e-mail address, log in to your control panel and click on EMAIL. Once the page is loaded, select the "Default Email Address" tab as show below. Here you can select your catch-all e-mail address from available addresses in your account.
- Click here for a step-by-step tutorial on setting up a catch-all address.
Does my e-mail account have a mailing list feature?

Is it possible to relocate my account to another server?
- We cannot relocate accounts to different servers. It is Globat.com's policy not to accommodate such requests.
How can I learn more about the spam and virus protection that comes with my account?
- There are currently no spam and virus protection provided for e-mails. However, we do have
plans to do so in the future. There is no timeline to when this will be done.

- Click the Add Autoresponder button to create an autoresponder. This should bring up the page shown below. On this page, enter the e-mail address you will like to be autoresponded. In the subject field put the desired subject of your response and in the body section, put the contents of your response. Once done, press the create button to create an Autoresponder.

My email is running slow. What can be done to speed it up?
- There are many reasons why your e-mail may be slow. Globat is constantly working to improve our e-mail service. Maintenance Upgrade
- In response to customer requests, Globat.com is performing an e-mail maintenance upgrade currently scheduled to happen in several phases between August 1, 2007 and October 30, 2007. You will be notified via email prior to your email account being upgraded. This upgrade is just one of the many projects we're undertaking in an ongoing effort to improve the level of service you receive. There is no cost to you associated with this upgrade.
- This e-mail maintenance upgrade will provide greater e-mail performance and reliability. Many new customers have already been using this upgrade during the past few weeks of testing. With their positive feedback, we are now ready to bring the advantages of this upgrade to all existing Globat.com customers.
- In general, there is no requirement for you to do anything on your part to accommodate this upgrade. However, depending on whether you use Web mail or use local e-mail client software, there are two items of which you should be aware:
- For Customers Using Local E-mail Client Software (Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Eudora or MacMail, or other POP3 email)
- If you are using any local e-mail client such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Eudora, MacMail, etc., copies of all your e-mail are downloaded to your local computer. You can facilitate the upgrade process by getting your e-mail on the day prior to the upgrade. Just open your e-mail client software and retrieve your e-mail as usual. This ensures that there will be a minimum of e-mail in your mailbox on the server as it is upgraded.
- Your software program allows you to either delete messages from the server as they are downloaded, or to leave a copy of these messages on the server. We recommend that in addition to retrieving your e-mail, you verify that you are deleting the e-mail from the server.
- If you are saving messages on the server, you should be aware that after the upgrade is completed, all e-mail that has been stored on the servers during the upgrade will be downloaded again to your client. Even messages you have previously deleted may show up again in your e-mail box. If you have left 10 messages on the server, these 10 messages will be downloaded again and appear as duplicates in your e-mail inbox. If you have left 500 messages on the server, then all 500 will be downloaded again to your inbox.
- If you are intentionally leaving your messages on the server so you can retrieve them from multiple locations, you should temporarily delete messages from the server until after the upgrade is completed in order to avoid duplicate messages.
- If you are not intentionally leaving messages on the server, you should permanently change the settings in your e-mail client to delete messages from the server after download.
- For example, to set Outlook Express to delete e-mail from the server, do the following:
Tip: To make sure you are not leaving mail on the Globat.com mail server, access the account's Advanced Properties page:
- 1. On the Outlook Express Tools menu, click Accounts.
- 2. Click the Mail tab, and then double-click your e-mail account.
- 3. Click the Advanced tab.
- 4. Uncheck the box labeled "Leave a copy of messages on server."
Uncheck the Leave a copy of messages on server
- If you are an advanced user and you want to continue storing your e-mail messages on Globat.com’s server, please remember that all messages stored on the server during the upgrade will be downloaded to your e-mail box again at the end of the upgrade. So at the very least you may want to disable this feature temporarily.
- In addition, please be careful using this option! Most ISPs limit the size of your POP3 mailbox. Saving messages on the server can cause your mailbox to become full very quickly, and so you might not receive important messages until you delete the server copies.
- Customers Using Web mail
- If you are currently using Globat’s Web mail (Squirrel Mail or @Mail), all your current messages, folders and subfolders will be maintained through the upgrade. If you are using Squirrel Mail, you will see a new interface as shown below. If you are using @Mail, the interface will remain the same.
- The current Web mail (Squirrel Mail) is shown below in Figure 1. The current @Mail interface is shown in Figure 2. The new upgraded interface is shown if Figure 3. All existing features in the current Web mail interface are still available in a slightly different layout.
- Figure 1. Current Squirrel Mail Interface
- Figure 2 – Current @Mail Interface
- Figure 3 – New Web Mail Top Level Interface
- The same features you're familiar with are still available, but we are introducing an improved format. You'll experience better organization of your e-mail in a cleaner and more user-friendly environment. Much of the feedback we've received from our customers has gone into this upgrade, and we're confident you'll enjoy the changes. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or comments.
