Globat allows you to create and manage multiple MySQL databases for your site. You can create custom scripts (PHP, Perl, etc) that access these databases, or set up a database for a pre-packaged application, including the phpBB forum system or the Movable Type blog system. MySQL is commonly used in the “Apache, PHP, MySQL” open source web hosting configuration. Each MySQL database you create may have one or more users. They are easily configured from the Databases section of the GCC. Simply click the "Modify User" button to add, modify, or delete database users. You can create multiple tables within any database you create. The phpMyAdmin web interface tool (installed with your account) is useful for configuring and testing your MySQL databases. If you have installed the "Globat Gallery" you will see databases that have been created for handling images and content to go along with the photo section of your site. If you are creating databases for your own applications, the MySQL server will be localhost and the username and password are whatever you choose when creating the database. ![]() The screenshot above shows a database manually created for Movable Type, a database automatically created for Globat Gallery, and a database manually created for phpBB. > PhpMyAdmin |
