DNS
What is DNS?
- DNS stands for the Domain Name System. DNS translates a domain name, for example, globat.com, into its numerical IP address that the Internet's computer networks understand. DNS entries can be modified to change the IP address and web host to which a domain name points. This allows you to point a domain name you registered earlier to the Globat servers.
What name servers do I use with my Globat account?
Primary DNS/Name Server: ns1.DNSjunction.com
Secondary DNS/Name Server: ns2.DNSjunction.com
How soon can I access my web site through my domain name after I order my account?
- It depends on how quickly your DNS servers update. It generally ranges from 6 hours to 72 hours. A comfortable estimate is 48-72 hours for the entire world--that's the point at which virtually all DNS servers would have your domain name in their systems. (There are millions of DNS servers, so it can take some time to get to all of them--this process is called propagation.) Even if you are able to access your site 6 hours after registering, it may take others a day, or longer. This is true no matter what web host you use.
- There is a Temporary URL link in your Globat Command Console that will allow you to access your web space while your domain name is in the propagation process.

My domain name (www.example.com) is currently registered through another company. Can I have the registration changed to Globat?
- Yes. Globat provides detailed Flash tutorials on the process of transferring your domain to Globat. You can view these tutorials here.
I've entered all my information correctly and my site is not resolving. Why?
- Generally when the information is entered correctly, and the domain name is still not resolving, the DNS servers have not yet had a chance to update at your ISP. To verify your information is correct, visit your registrar and look for a "WHOIS" link. Enter your Domain Name, and check the end of the listing for the DNS server information. If they match, and you made the modification more than 72 hours ago, please contact Globat Support (http://support.globat.com/ticket/) so we may investigate the issue on your behalf.
I am not getting response from both DNS servers. What can I do?
- Please verify that your DNS servers match identically to the DNS information provided to you by Globat. Please remember that domain name propagation can take up to 72 hours. If your information is correct at your registrar, please contact Globat Support (http://support.globat.com/ticket/).
My domain is not resolving. What can I do?
- Domain name propagation can take up to 72 hours (it is often much less). Very rarely do domain names not resolve after this propagation period when the correct DNS server information is entered at your registrar. Please verify the DNS information at your registrar. If it has been more than 72 hours, please contact Globat Support (http://support.globat.com/ticket/).
How can I change my nameservers?
- Globat provides Flash Tutorials on changing nameservers at popular registrars, as well as general information on changing your nameserver settings.
