Globat.com offers four types of e-mail accounts. These four types are Mailboxes (POP3), Forwarders (Aliases), Autoresponders, and the Default (catch-all) e-mail address. Click on the name of one of these four types for a step-by-stpe tutorial. For newcomers to Web hosting, please view the summary of each type of e-mail address type in the Email section of the Globat Command Console tutorial.

You can view demonstrations on setting up common e-mail clients such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, and Thunderbird to work with the industry standard POP3 Mailbox you create.

The most basic information you need on setting up your e-mail client to retrieve messages from a POP3 account is as follows:

POP3 server: mail.example.com
(Replace example.com with your Globat domain name.)
SMTP server: mail.example.com
username: Your *full* e-mail address, including domain,
          e.g. myname@example.com
password: As entered in the Globat Command Console
when you created your e-mail address

Most e-mail clients set POP3 Mailboxes to delete files off the mail server when you check your e-mail. We recommend you use this default setting. Each Globat.com POP3 mailbox may hold up to 1,000 messages, giving you sufficient storage to check your e-mail using @mail or Webmail while away from your regular computer.

A Note About Sending Mail: Our e-mail system is configured to authenticate (verify) users when they send e-mail. Within your e-mail client's SMTP settings, you should see a checkbox for something similar to "my server requires authentication" or "sending mail requires authentication." Check that checkbox, and use your full e-mail address as the username.
